St Augustine’s School is delighted to announce that Liam Watkinson has been honoured with a Diana Award.
Liam has received the Diana Award for his contribution to Chaplaincy both in his home parish and in school. Liam serves on the alter for mass each week and at the end of term. He also volunteers his time frequently and will do anything for anyone.
Liam received his award at a ceremony in Leeds, after some inspirational speeches and fantastic performances, Liam was presented with his Diana Award by local actress and former Coronation St and Wild at Heart star Lucy-Jo Hudson. Liam then attended workshops on public speaking and sustaining social action in the community. A lovely day was had by all. Mrs Cullen and Sara attended the ceremony with Liam and he was amongst 70 young people who had achieved fantastic things through their kind, selfless and often courageous actions. Liam has done himself proud, and received a piece of history in the form of a framed, hand signed certificate by outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron.
Since 1999, over 47,000 young people have been recognised with a Diana Award for making an outstanding difference in their communities’ across the globe and continuing Princess Diana’s legacy. With the support of HRH Prince William and HRH Prince Harry, The Diana Award aims to inspire and recognise social action in young people by going beyond its Awards programme with youth led initiatives that empower young people to achieve their full potential and make a difference.

We at St Augustine’s are extremely proud of Liam. The Diana Award will encourage him to continue his fantastic work and will hopefully inspire others to make a difference in the community. Liam is delighted to receive an award in recognition of his work.
To celebrate #DianasLegacy during Princess Diana’s birthday month The Diana Award will be publishing a full list of Award Holders from the academic year 2015/2016 at www.diana-award.org.uk on the 4th July 2016. Nominations for the Diana Award for the academic year 2016/2017 open in September 2016 and can be made on the Diana Award’s website.
