Congratulations to former 18 year old St Augustine’s pupil Alanis Beckitt for achieving a university scholarship. The bursary is to fund tuition fees to study Biomedical science at Newcastle University. The Bursary is funded by a private charitable trust which has awarded just two students from Headlands College in Bridlington.

Alanis who is a practising Catholic and a regular reader at Our Lady and St Peter’s Church in Bridlington started her schooling years at Our Lady and St Peter’s Primary school in Bridlington, she then later attended St Augustine’s secondary school in Scarborough and is now currently studying her A Level’s (Chemistry, Maths and Biology) at Headlands Sixth Form College in Bridlington.

Alanis said “I feel extremely lucky to have gained the scholarship, financially it will give me a fantastic start knowing my university fees are paid for. I cannot thank Headlands Sixth Form enough for awarding me with this as it has given me a great start to my future studies at university, where I hope to go on and achieve a career as a medic.”
