Soup Lunch and Coins for CAFOD

On Friday 3rd October a good number of our Years 10 and 11 pupils and Staff came together to share a Soup Lunch in order to raise money for the vital work of CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development). Staff and pupils from the Food Technology Department prepared vegetable soup for the event which raised £210.28

We were very pleased to be joined on the day by Monica Conmee, the Head of Education for CAFOD, who said, “Thank you for such a warm welcome to your school today. What a great school you have there!! I have certainly learnt a lot and it has helped me understand how we can better support all the amazing work schools like yours are doing.”  Photos of the event were posted on the CAFOD website

Years 7, 8 and 9 have taken part in “Coins for CAFOD”. Pupils (and staff) have been donating their small change over the last few weeks by posting their coins into coin tubes and watching their donations grow.

The coin tubes have been available in the school foyer and have caused substantial inter-year competition (good-natured, of course!), as the Year Group with the highest donation won a Free Dress Day on the last day of half term.

The donations were as follows: Year 7 £109.31, Year 8 £107.54, Year 9 £138.20 and donations from “Anyone Else” (pupils from upper school, staff and visitors) £45.19. That’s a total of £610.52  and means that Year 9 won a Free Dress for their entire Year Group!

Congratulations to them and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to our CAFOD Harvest Appeal.
