‘Successful Futures’

74 Year 9 students attended ‘Successful Futures’ at Coventry University, Scarborough Campus.

The students received a talk about their options when they leave St Augustine’s School. They heard from Scarborough Sixth Form College, Coventry University and two real life stories from Sam and Natalie who are both apprentices.

The students then had the opportunity to talk to a number of employers including Network Rail, Nestle and Flamingo Land whilst picking up the obligatory free pen along the way.

‘Learn to Earn’

Young Enterprise came into school on Thursday 8 March to deliver their ‘Learn to Earn’ Programme to Year 7 students. Louise from Young Enterprise was accompanied by Vicky who works for Santander in Scarborough and was able to tell their students about her story from school to now.

The day gave year 7 the opportunity to think about their future goals and aspirations and how they could reach them as well as considering outgoings such as water & electric bills and how they would be able to manage these.

Mock Interviews

Thursday 22 March was our Year 10 Mock Interview Day, this will be our 14th year running this successful session. We had 18 employers into school to give the students a real life opportunity of an interview. Students have completed application forms and these will be read beforehand by each employer.

Outstanding student names were mentioned by the employers. These were: Luke Hall, Karina Jarmany, Jack Gomersall and Michael Vu.
