Students in year 10 joined around 20,000 other young people from around the country to take part in European Restart a Heart Day on 18th October 2016.
Over 600 volunteers from The British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance and Yorkshire Ambulance Service, along with all 14 UK ambulance trusts worked together to create a truly unforgettable day.
Students were taught the basics of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). If someone suffers a cardiac arrest, their chances of survival double if it happens in front of a bystander who immediately starts CPR before the arrival of an ambulance. Mrs Edwards said: “it is fantastic that so many people have the opportunity to learn to do CPR, let’s just hope they never have to use it!”
