We are very proud of the results achieved by the 117 pupils in our 2020 cohort. They were a pleasure to teach, and their maturity and kindness as a group shone through during their whole time in the school. It was heart-breaking that their final year was cut short, and that so many rites of passage were denied to them as well as the chance to prove themselves in the exams. However, their hard work over the past two years, together with the dedicated support of their teachers and support staff, has now been rewarded, with many achieving very impressive sets of grades and looking forward to taking up places in colleges and on apprenticeships.

Head teacher Paul Griffin said, “I don’t want to single out just those pupils with lots of top grades, because pupils at all ability levels worked really hard, and I’m proud of all of them. They have been through what I hope will be a unique year in the history of education, but they have remained strong and positive and have bright futures ahead of them.”

Many pupils came into school on Thursday morning to collect results, though celebrations with their friends and teachers were obviously more muted than usual. Further education providers have also been in school to help pupils finalise their choices for the next stage in their education.
