Within school we have a handful of Year 8 students called ‘High Five’; they work closely with our partner Universities to raise awareness of Higher Education and the progression routes that are available for our learners. Further to a session they attended in April 2015, they were asked to prepare a presentation to presents to a number of Academics, Professors and students at the University of York. The presentation was based on ‘How can University equip students for their future’. The Year 8 students had to prepare a 5 minute PowerPoint presentation and organise their team to research, plan, create and deliver their presentation.
Well done to all the students involved in this huge achievement and for being brave enough to deliver their presentation, this is a great skill to undertake at such an early age:
Angela Morris from York University said “I just wanted to congratulate your students on their presentation at the 3MT/Give me Five competition last week. We really were very impressed with all of the presentations and the level of work the pupils have put it. Your teams should feel very proud of themselves for their achievements as we did set them quite a tough challenge! I do hope that your pupils enjoyed the day and that it inspired them and enthused them about their future opportunities”.
