Christmas is always a busy time of year for the young people of the St Augustine’s music department. They have been involved in several things in the lead up to Christmas.

The Chamber Choir entertained the shoppers in Morrison’s before heading off to sing at the first annual  Bernard and Sons Carol   Service in the Albemarle Baptist Church. This was arranged for all the people who had lost someone over the past year along with the public and proved to be a moving evening of readings and inspirational singing by the choir.

The Jazz Band, SAJO, then entertained the crowds in the town centre on a very cold day, with the highlight being 4 drummers on 1 drum kit at the same time.

The highlight of the term was the school Christmas Concert in which all the ensembles performed to a full house at Westborough Methodist Church. Performances of Christmas classics like Sleigh Ride, O Holy Night and Jingle Bell Rock, along with more modern music such as Run by Leona Lewis, Wings by Birdy and Knock on Wood brought the crowd to a standing ovation.

Mr Barron said “It has been a very busy period as usual, but I am once again so very proud of these young people doing what they love, performing, to such high standard and really making a difference to people in the community by bring them happiness and joy through such amazing performances.”
