Year 8 student Sakura Doody has been selected to travel to America in July 2019 for the 24th World Scout Jamboree.

Sakura who is a member of 49th Eastfield Scouts, has been selected to travel as part of the North Yorkshire contingent of Scouts and will be joining 50,000 others from over 160 countries world wide.

The Jamboree is being hosted by America, Mexico and Canada and taking place at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia from 22nd July – 2nd August 2019. Sakura said “I am really excited, I have never been to America before. I am looking forward to making new friends around the world”.

Sakura has to raise £3000 for the trip and will be running fundraising events to help cover the costs.

Sakura is following in the footsteps of past student Connor Gillan who attended the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan in July 2015.
