All of St Augustine’s sports teams have had a very successful start to the year, both in individual and team sports.

Cross Country

The cross country team have done exceptionally well in the cold, wet and muddy conditions this year. They competed in a total of 3   different races at Scalby, Whitby and Duncombe park. The Year 8 girls’ team came 3rd overall and the Year 9 girls’ team came 1st overall. Shannon Olma-Campbell and Grace Hardy have both been selected to represent the district team in January.


The Year 7 boys’ football team did well at the 5-a-side tournament, coming 2nd in the tournament against the other Scarborough schools and qualifying to go through to the district 5-a-side finals.


The girls’ netball season has been very successful this year with the Year 9 and Year 10 teams qualifying to go through to the next round of the  district knock out.

The Year 8 team produced an outstanding performance at their district tournament, winning all their games to go through to the semi-finals where they beat Malton and faced Ryedale in the finals. They were winning at half time, however lost in the last few minutes of the game. The girls played some brilliant netball and represented  themselves very well  throughout the whole tournament.


The Year 10 basketball team played well in their tournament, coming 2nd overall in the competition against the other Scarborough schools, qualifying to go through to the district final.


The boys rugby teams have done well this season with the Year 9 team winning 4 out of 5 games in their tournament and coming 2nd overall. The Year 10 team won 1 and lost 3 of their games but with 2 of the matches only lost by 1 point. They Year 11 team played well in their final district rugby tournament for the school and placed 9th overall in the district.
