Dear Parents,

I am writing to you this month to pass on my reflections on the school after having been here almost a month. I continue to be warmly welcomed by pupils and their conduct around school is excellent, a real credit to you as parents and the school.

I wanted to pass on my thanks to you all as well for supporting the wider life of the school which is so vibrant – the chess club, the various musical opportunities and sporting events and the ‘Faith in Action’ group. I know at this time of year driving out to pick up pupils in the cold and dark is not always fun, but thank you for supporting us in this way.

I have undertaken a piece of work to evaluate the school’s position – looking at our many strengths and areas in which to develop – I’ll be sharing these in detail with staff and pupils in the coming weeks but in summary there are a few priorities we have identified which I’d like you to know about:

— Developing our curriculum – I will be asking the leadership team to review our current provision and look at how our options process works – this will be relevant to your child if they are in Y9 or below.

— Embedding effective behaviour and learning routines around school – we are blessed with a wonderful pupil body who are very conscientious and polite, as a school I believe we can improve on the educational experience for pupils with a few simple routines around school which I know Miss Robinson has already written to you about

— Preparing our pupils for life in modern Britain – we will be reviewing our curriculum on Personal Development to ensure all our pupils are receiving a good grounding in topics such as British values, online safety and relationships.

Thank you as always for your continued support of the school and do let us know if you have any concerns or queries that we can address.
