The Year 7s have been outstanding with their commitment to lunch time clubs and their enthusiasm for the sport. It was a very tough job choosing the team to go through for their first tournament and it is hoped that we will be able to have 2 teams to go through to play at the next few fixtures so keep coming to practice.

The girls were very excited for the tournament although a little nervous during the day, the weather wasn’t looking too good in the morning with the rain paying its usual visit whenever we have fixtures but thankfully the sun made an appearance for the start of the tournament.

Miss Robinson was thrilled to be able to take the girls to their first tournament as you can see by the report she gave from their matches.

The year 7 netball team took on GPS, Filey, Graham and Scalby in their first ever tournament and they were absolutely fantastic! I was so proud of the effort, attitude, and enthusiasm that the girls played with throughout the whole tournament.

In their first game although nervous, they had a brilliant game beating Scalby 1- 0. Sophia Ball kept her call under pressure and had an impressive shot on goal to take us into the lead for the game.

The second game the girls faced GPS and with an outstanding defence from Yasmin Maw and Hebe Ridley meant that GPS were unable to get the ball to their shooters for much of the game. The girls in attack were able to apply the pressure and get the ball down to our shooters for most of the game allow us to have a confident 5-1 win.

Our next game against Graham was a little bit trickier for the girls, but they played with determination to keep the game competitive throughout. The sheer grit and hard work the girls demonstrated meant that they were able to get the ball to Elsie with an excellent feed by Evie which meant Elsie was able to finish with a goal. The ball was going back and forth during the game, evenly competed by both teams with the final score being 2-2

Facing Filey the girls knew what they had to do, and they started off at a fanatic pace. Lacey, Hebe, and Yasmin’s defence was impeccable. Daisy playing centre worked well with Evie, Sofia, and Maisie to get the ball down court with the girls winning convincingly 4-0.

Overall, it was a fantastic evening with the year 7 netball team, every single one of them worked hard and were a credit to St Augustine’s, we can’t wait for the next match!
